Customer Story: LimeDB

October 11th 2018

LimeDB Ltd is a joint venture between two business partners who met whilst contracting in the IT world and saw opportunities to do a better job than just marketing yourself for 3, 6, 12 months at a time.  We wanted a longer relationship with the customer and the ability to deliver a better product.

How did you start your company?

LimeDB is a joint venture between two business partners who met whilst contracting in the IT world and saw opportunities to do a better job than just marketing yourself for 3, 6, 12 months at a time. We wanted a longer relationship with the customer and the ability to deliver a better product.

What are you working on at the moment?

We are currently working in a number of areas of IT transformation. We are firmly in the centre of the current trend of all things “Cloud computing” and are trying to help customers on their journey to demystify the options out there and help traverse the minefield of options for their important IT systems. We partner with a number of IT managed service providers to reach a larger customer base. We also have a number of intercompany joint ventures between ourselves and likeminded companies. We specialise in IT infrastructure, software development and database support. But lately we are also branching out into bookkeeping and networking.

What do you like about Bracknell Enterprise & Innovation Hub?

We like the Oxford Innovation Bracknell centre as it’s always been a pleasant place to work and provides a good balance between formality and friendliness. Formal and professional when required, but flexible, friendly and familiar when the time is right. We have experienced certain other office environments and found them to be very expensive for the base product and additionally a very hard sell for all the extra’s. Whilst always friendly and professional, you always get the impression with these companies, that staff performance and bottom line is always front and centre. Whilst Oxford Innovation must also have a bottom line, of course they do, but you certainly don’t feel as though it’s constantly being thrust in your face. We have been at Oxford Innovation offices at different locations for 8+ years and heave never felt pressurised or over charged. Nothing is too much trouble, even the milk !!

What projects/ambitions do you have for the future of your company?

Our forward projects involve growing our existing business ventures but also to expand via acquisition. We are actively looking for small business that will enhance our own product line. In addition, we are actively growing an offshore technical capability in order to resource our technical requirements. We have started a graduate trainee program in Zimbabwe and aim not just to use the resources in their homeland, but also to allow them spells in the UK to give them actual customer exposure. Our current office suits us with both size and location, but we always know we can very easily expand or contract, whilst staying in the same location, without the worry of a very long contractual tie in. That’s a very comforting and is a definite differentiator.
