Boost your health for winter

October 27th 2017

Empowering charity, Victoria’s Promise, has teamed up with Bracknell Enterprise & Innovation Hub (The Hub) to help companies boost employee health and defences this winter with the launch of its first “Living Well Workshop” taking place from 10.30am, 29 November 2017 at The Hub.

The Living Well Workshop is free to attend and has been built by a team of Victoria’s Promise experts to provide tricks, facts and tools to get control and ownership of physical and mental health this winter. That team includes; doctors of functional medicine, specialist nurses and VP’s director of scientific research from the University of College London.

Illnesses associated with winter has a major impact on business with the common cold or cough costing the UK 34 million sick days* last year.

Dino Rakitzis, General Manager, Victoria’s Promise, said:

“Living Well Workshop” will be a chance for Victoria’s Promise to share their learning in the field of healthcare, allowing businesses to recognise how important it is to take care of employees’ mental and physical health during the winter months. The team from The Hub have team have been extremely supportive and are key to making this event happen. It is a fantastic venue and we look forward to welcoming Bracknell businesses to what promises to be a myth busting, interesting and empowering session.”

The charity is also launching health training team-building days for businesses to attend at The Hub.

Based at Ocean House, The Hub is managed by the leading operator of innovation centres, Oxford Innovation. Due to the success of Bracknell Hub, and the growing need for workspace in the heart of Bracknell, the centre has expanded and recently took over the 9th floor of Ocean House, where they can provide even more supportive and flexible, office spaces for the local business community. The Hub has also refurbished its business lounge where the Victoria’s Promise workshop will take place.

Shelley Furey, Manager of The Hub, said: “We are delighted to provide space to host workshops that should prove invaluable for businesses this winter, ensuring our centre customers and local businesses are ready to face the cold months ahead. Victoria’s Promise is a fantastic charity who we’ve been introduced via EngageConvert, a business based at The Hub.”

EngageConvert is a design and marketing consultancy with a talented team of creatives based at The Hub. Company founder, Gareth Wright, is also Brand Guardian for Victoria’s Promise. He said:

“Victoria’s Promise is a charity filling the gaps in physical, social, emotional and practical care for young women and their families suffering through the challenges of cancer diagnosis. The work they do is vitally important and that will now be extended to help maintain the general wellbeing of everyone looking to stay mentally and physically fit.”

Victoria’s Promise is involved in research and development for cancer prevention in addition to offering care services including specialist oncology massages, childcare support and therapy, counselling, personal care guardians, the sourcing and funding of high quality wigs and post treatment nutritional therapy.
